And these negative effects are quite a long term. This is because the nicotine in cigarettes makes you want to smoke again and again. Therefore, it is a good idea to know about all these harmful effects in detail. Doing so can help you in taking regular steps towards quitting smoking.

The Harmful Components of Cigarette

Cigarettes contain many harmful components which include metals like nickel and arsenic, dangerous radioactive substances, carbon monoxide, and tar. These harmful substances can cause dangerous conditions like cancers and stroke. At the very least, smoking of cigarette effects on your lungs includes damaged skin and bone structure.

How Smoking of Cigarette Affects Your Body?

Cigarette smoking can severely impact the circulatory and immunity system in many ways. Here are all the dangerous effects of smoking on health discussed in detail:

Greater Amount of Mucus

One of the disastrous side effects of smoking is that it can cause the body to generate more mucus. This excessive mucous can block the air passageways. The blocked passageways, in turn, can make it difficult for you to breathe. It can also cause you to develop a chronic cough. Long-term active and passive smoking can increase the risk of developing serious lung and heart conditions.

Greater Risk of Clot Formation

Another reason why you should think about quitting smoking is that it can increase the chances of clot formation. The harmful metals in the cigarette can cause the blood to thicken. As the blood thickens, it also becomes more prone to clot formation.

Thus, the arteries can get blocked and make your body more vulnerable to a heart attack. The hemoglobin levels can also rise up. But this increase is not a good sign for the body. This is because it might hide other chronic conditions like anemia.

Poor Lung Health

Smoking of cigarettes can seriously harm the lungs. This can cause the lining of the lungs to become very thin. Also, reduced oxygen levels in the blood can irritate the lungs. You can develop a permanent cough due to poor lung health.

But the most dangerous damage of cigarettes is that it can cause lung cancer. The protective systems inside the lungs can weaken because of smoking. In the absence of a powerful defense mechanism, the lungs become more prone to cancer.

Increased Chances of Heart Attack and Stroke

Smoking can also cause high blood pressure. This can easily cause a heart attack in obese people. Besides this, smoking can damage the lining of the blood vessels. As the blood vessels get weakened, they cannot deliver an adequate amount of oxygen to the brain.

If the brain fails to receive enough oxygen, it can easily become prone to cancer /stroke. And it is very difficult to survive a brain stroke. So, cigarette smoking can greatly increase the chances of such dangerous conditions.  If you give up smoking, you may be able to minimize these risks.

Increased Rate of Aging

One of the biggest signs of poor health is abnormal aging. If you look much older than you should, then there is definitely something wrong with your body. And smoking can cause you to age much faster. It is true that it can help you to prevent obesity.

But it can also make your skin look dull and bumpy. Even if you are in your 30s, you can expect dark circles around your eyes. And your face might start getting filled with wrinkles and dark spots extra.

Reduced Fertility

Smoking generally affects blood vessels in many ways. It can damage the lining and cause huge blood clots. So, the blood vessels that supply the blood to the penis can become weak as well. So, this condition can cause male infertility. Even if you are in your 20s or 30s, your fertility can get severely affected.

It also affects the female reproductive system. Long-term smoking can impact the menstruation cycle. It can also damage the ovaries and can create complications during pregnancy. That is why pregnant females are asked to avoid smoking.

Increased Chances of Cancer

Reduced blood circulation levels can also increase the risk of cancers. Your mouth and throat can especially get impacted. Most of the people that have oesophageal cancer smoke as well. This shows a high correlation between smoking and bad oesophageal health.

Bone and Tissue Weakening

Finally, smoking can damage bones. They can deplete the bones of the essential fluid. This, in turn, can cause the bones to become highly brittle. So, the chances of developing osteoporosis can increase as well.
