Coconut Oil for Face: 7 Ways to Use it For a Beauty Boost

Written by Stephen Mills

Are you a beauty conscious person? Does your face feel dry and sensitive all the time no matter what products you use? Does the idea of using various products on your skin give you shivers? You are not alone. As a first step, invest in a jar of coconut oil for face. I have found my best friend in this miracle oil!

Here are all the benefits I have experienced since using coconut oil:

Coconut Oil for Face – a Lifesaver

Makeup Removing

I find makeup removers too harsh for my skin. After trying many alternatives, both medicated and chemical ones, I settled for coconut oil. At first, I did not believe anyone who suggested this option. Some of the major concerns included the oil leaving the skin greasy. However, to my surprise, the coconut oil did not leave my skin greasy and I did not see any makeup remains on my face either after removing it with the oil.

Being a makeup enthusiast, I have to keep up with the ongoing makeup trends. And at times, some products refuse to separate from the skin. If you can relate to the struggle, then you should use the oil as well as a makeup remover.

All you have to do is apply the oil on your face and remove the makeup with a cotton pad as you would normally do with other makeup removers as well. You will see that even the cream blush comes off in an instance. Mentioning this because it is hard to remove it.

Relief from Sunburn

One of the major issues that arise if you have sensitive skin is sunburn. Wearing sunblock, putting on layers and layers of makeup, or hiding your face underneath a huge hat can’t save people with sensitive skin from this annoying issue as well. People try many remedies for irritated skin when they get a sunburn. But did you know that coconut oil can help you with this issue as well? Isn’t it like a miracle oil?

If you are wondering that what is it that coconut oil does, then it helps you to get rid of the redness that one gets after a sunburn.  The harsh rays of the sun can be a bit too much for people with delicate skin to deal with. Moreover, their skin becomes drier. So, if you wish to rehydrate your skin and make it redness-free, then you should apply coconut oil on your face and all affected areas.

Night Cream

While many women look for under eye creams to reduce dark circles and puffiness, others look for all-in-one night creams. You will be surprised to learn that you no longer have to invest in expensive creams that can cost you an arm and a leg. All you have to do is add a couple of drops of coconut oil in your lotion. Or you can choose to apply the coconut oil for the face alone. The choice is yours.

The choice also depends on whether you have acne-prone skin or not. If you do, adding coconut oil to your moisturizer would be a better option. And if not, you can apply it directly.

Face Scrub

Among the many beauty tips for face that you will see online, keeping it moisturized would be the most suggested one. However, individuals start stressing on the moisturizing part to the extent that they do not pay attention to scrubbing. In many cases, women do not even know what scrubbing is or why is it important. And if they do, they over-do the act.

You can use coconut oil as a base to make a scrub for yourself as well. All you need is coconut oil and sugar. Using brown or white sugar is upon your discretion. However, the former would be a better choice. Also, you can use your scrub for exfoliation on your whole body as a part of body care tips. But remember to NOT use it more than thrice a week. As over usage of scrubs leaves the skin dry and irritated.

Insect Repellant

Bug bites make your face look bad. Although I’m not a fan of makeup and prefer to look more natural, I had to apply layers of foundation once. It was necessary to hide the bug bites. But then I discovered a secret. Mixing coconut oil with any essential oil was enough to make the horrible red marks the bites left go away. Within a day my face got better. You will have to apply the oil with a few hours’ gaps. And see the magic happen.

Apart from all these tips, coconut oil can be a great part of your skincare during pregnancy. You can apply it on your tummy so that you do not develop prominent stretch marks.

Other than that, you can also use the oil to keep your stiletto nails moisturized. For me, coconut oil worked best as a lip balm and night cream. I do not even remember the last time that I purchased an expensive moisturizer. So try these tips and let us know if you notice any results!
