How to Apply Cream Blush to get a Glowing Look

Written by Stephen Mills

Are you a makeup fanatic? Do you spend hours watching tutorials on how to perfect that winged liner? Do you know the various types of blushes that exist? If YES, then you would be aware of the cream blush as well. Many girls do not like to apply it. However, some girls go gaga over it because of the smooth application and that glowing effect.

But to be able to get that highlighter effect, there is a certain way in which you should apply the blush.

How to Apply Cream Blush the Right Way?

So, you cannot just apply the blush o your skin without applying the foundation. There are steps that you should follow.

Prep the Skin

To begin with, you should make sure that you prep your skin the right way to look more natural. Hydrated skin does not need much for fixation. Therefore, make sure that your skin is hydrated. Do not rely on blushes and highlighters to make your skin look glowing alone. Instead, use products that add dew to your skin. For example, face oil or a hydrating moisturizer. Mix it with your foundation and apply it to your skin. Make use of a beauty blender for the best results.

Remember to not compromise on the quality of products that you use for prepping your skin or to take care of it. For example, if you are using a serum to reduce dark circles, choose the best one, as a poor quality product can have adverse effects on your skin. Following a skincare routine is also a part of prepping your skin to give that radiant look.

Apply the Blush

The right way to apply cream blush would be to put it on the apples of your cheeks. Then stroke it in an upward motion using a brush. In case you do not have a brush, you can always make the best use of your fingers to do so. However, if you are wondering where the apples of your cheeks are, here is what do. Smile. Yes, just smile and apply the blush on the roundest part of your cheeks.

If you blend your blush upward along your cheekbone, it will help to add more depth. The color of the blush that you choose depends on your discretion. Many people are not comfortable with bright and loud colors. It is okay. You can start by applying subtle tones. Look for makeup trends online and you will learn more about the look that you prefer.

Add a Highlighter

The last step would be to add a bronzer or a highlighter on top of the cream blush to enhance the look. Whatever you place on top of the creamy blush, it will stick to it. Therefore, be careful while applying. You do not want to go too overboard. However, if you do make a mistake of applying a bit too much of the bronzer or highlighter, you can always use makeup remover to fix the issue.

Ensuring an Even Color

Once everything is done, you should have a look at yourself in the mirror and see if the color is even or not. You would not want an uneven tone. Both sides should look the same. If you fail to do so, it will look unflattering.

Applying the Best Products

Make sure that the products you use suit your skin. Otherwise, you will find yourself spending hours watching tutorials on remedies for irritated skin. And it might take time for you to fix any issue that may arise. Therefore, make it a practice to do a patch test before using any product as well.

Who are the Best Candidates?

Talking about the right products for your skin, you should also be aware of your skin type and whether a cream blush is for you or not. You will be glad to learn that these blushes suit almost every skin type. Perfect candidates include:

People with Dry Skin

Creamy blushes work the best for individuals who have dry skin than any other skin type. Because a powder blush will always make the dry skin look drier. If you wish to add moisture and dew to your look, then opt for a creamy blush.

Aging Skin

If you are aging and the signs are prominent on your skin, opt for this category of blushes. Because aging skin tends to be drier than the young skin.

Cold Climates

People living in cold climates also have drier skin than people who do not. If you live in any such area as well, you would want to ditch the powdered blush.

Hope this blog helps you make the right decision. Having said so, if you are expecting, please consult a doctor for skincare during pregnancy. Because certain products might not be suitable for you. Only your doctor can guide you better about that.
